It's nearly time for the.................

Are you getting excited?

Because I am!

So here are the fine-tune details for The Bloggery Picnic Party:

We plan to meet by the swings

at Millet's Farm near Abingdon

at 11am

on Wednesday 8th April

It would be great if everyone could bring:

their own picnic

a small-ish, wrapped, handmade present to go in the lucky dip

and as many boxed Easter Eggs as the number of children you bring - again to go in a lucky dip (unless anyone has nut allergies etc)

IMPORTANT:
Trashy has made the very good point that we need to have some sort of agreement about whether we can take/post photos of each other/our children on our blogs.

So could you please leave a comment on this post stating how you feel about this

- then there will be a central point where people can check before they write a post.

So please make sure you check the comments on this post BEFORE you publish any photos on your blog

And I think that's about it really.

My only concern is that the weather may not be on our side but I'm afraid I can't do anything about that - we may just have to come up with a cunning plan to evacuate the coffee shop so we can all get a seat!

So far these are the friends that are hopefully coming along:

Kitty
Moogsmum
Dottycookie
Gina
Emma Pebble
Trashy
Maria
Julia B
Tillyboo
Julie
Domesticali
Penny
Jane from Sew Create it
my BOSSY BIG SISTER
Suburbia
Eve
Kate

if I have missed anyone off or if any new people can come please let me know - hopefully it will be a really fun day!

I'll start the comments off by saying that I'm happy for photos of the Lockets to be shown on other blogs as long as the children are only identified by their blog names of Dorothy, Daisy and Fred and as long as the photos of me aren't too disgusting!!!

Personally I don't post pictures of my kids and I tend to refer to them as the DD1 and the DD2...so I'd prefer pictures of my kids aren't posted...(Gosh I sound like a real crank!)
I am however happy to have pictures of me posted..providing I look have decent :o)

I can't really say I have an opinion here and as I am not bringing any children, my opinion doesn't matter anyway.

I do however, have a suggestion.
How would those who don't want their childrens photos on blogs etc feel if their childrens faces and or whole bodies were blurred out?
It could be difficult to exclude some children if they are around when photos are taken.
Just my thoughts as I have done this in the past as a Beaver Scout leader.

I forgot to say, that I do not think children should be named by their real name. At least not until they are older.

11am. Millet's Farm. By the swings. With a picnic. And eggs. And a handmade 'thingy'. Right you are.

I don't post pictures of my kids (No.1 and No.2 respectively) on my blog. There are various reasons for this, not the least of which is an ex who would cause me MAJOR hassle if our kids appeared on the internet. So, it's a 'no pictures of the kids' vote from me I'm afraid. I'm also rather shy about showing my own 'real' self on camera. This too is to prevent 'stalking' by the ex. However, as long as I don't look like the back end of a bus, I don't mind pictures of me being shown on other blogs. Maybe we could get someone to take a picture of us all lined up, from the back?!

He he ,if I was there I wouldvolunteer to take a piccy of everyone from the back - all those butss lined up would be hysterical...but I have a very juvenile sense of humour.
I hope Trash doesn't step in peoples lunch!

I hope you all have a wonderful time. I'm still bummed out that I can't make it (due to work commitments hubby can't take any time off that week - I did try though!) Anyway, have fun!

As I'm not bringing children I guess it's not up to me but personally I wouldn't put pictures of anyone else's children on my blog. Looking forward to the picnic though!

You forgot me :( But I am still hoping to make it.

I'm not bothered about pics of me and/or my kids on blogs - I do it all the time. But think I would rather not have a photo of all of us from the backside :)

I plaster my kids shamelessly on my own blog, so I'm relaxed about the whole photo thing. In fact, you could probably persuade me to let you take home the real articles for not very much bribery!

I hope you all have a wonderful time. Wish I was that bit closer that I could join in. x

Things are settling down at this end and Mr P and I have talking about possible plans for Wednesday.

I'm always in tow minds about pics of my tots - I do sometimes post their faces but not always. I think it would be OK - obviously use the Miss P1/P2 names if a photo does pop up, otherwise fine.

I do hope I can get there - just need to think a but more about the journey to and fro,

Ooow! I so wish I was coming to the picnic, and I don't even have any children!
I hope everyone has a brilliant time meeting each other, I am looking forward to all the piccies and stories on the 9th too. ESPECIALLY the "BUTT" picture!!
On the photos of diddies - how about they all make ginormous Easter hats with TV names on? Would make most of them unrecognizable!
Have fun!!

I don't too much mind (non hideous) pictures of me, but I really don't want pictures of my children's faces to be posted anywhere - backs of them, or heads chopped off I(not literally!!!) or blurred would be OK if people really want to put up pics afterwards. I also don't use their names on my blog, and would appreciate it if it stayed that way.

I won't be posting photos of anyone else's children, for sure.

There's an award for you on my blog

I'm looking forward to this!

I don't mind having pictures of my kids shown on other people's blogs, but I'd prefer it if they weren't named.

Depending on stuff, I might be missing a child.

I so wish I could get there but sadly rugby commitments for Sarah stop me - have a wonderful time everyone and I'm keeping everything crossed for a dry day for you all x x x

julie said...

Hoping to see you there. Just for the record I'd prefer no pictures of the children's faces. Fingers crossed for the weather!

Penny said...

Just a thought - if anyone turned up with a little name-badge for the grown-ups, would people's reaction be "oh, thank goodness, there's one person I'll know", or would it be just too geeky?

(I might pin my ravelry badge to my bag anyway.)

Well Wednesday is well on the way now, sorry to be bearer of bad news but weather forecast not good - heavy rain. but there is a restaurant and a coffee shop in the garden centre.

My very little sister forgot to mention about bloggy carnations for recognising people (I did tell her). If those that have them can wear theirs then it will help those of you who do not recognise anyone.

You will be able to follow the noise though as there will be lots of squealing (from my sister) and hugs and kisses for everyone (also from my sis.

The play area/swings are behind the restaurant which is the building to the left of the carpark.

Hope I am being helpful, as to photos it is fine with me but I think even if one person is not happy then no one blogs photos of other people's children then no mistakes are made!

i am toying with the idea of coming along!, other half is in oxford tomorrow for a portrait sitting, so am going to see how long the drive takes him and then decide if it's doable on wednesday!

Hi Lucy, I've already mentioned but thought i'd better add my voice here. I won't post pics of children on my blog. Not bothered about pics of me on other blogs but i am VERY unphotgenic!!! Millets have extended their restaurant/cafe so there should be enough room for everyone if it rains! Hopefully the craft shop will be fully stocked too!!! xx

Suburbia said...

Hi Lucy thanks so much for organising this. I hope you don't mind if I say no to photos. Thanks a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone :-)

I'm ok with the photo thing - of the kids....whereas I invariably look so hideous on photos I'd quite like to be blurred!!!

Can't wait!
