Un-UN-things

Thank you all so much for your lovely and thoughtful comments on yesterday's post. Just saying how I was feeling has made me feel a lot better and your kind comments helped even more.

When you look around you can often see lots of other things that help take the "uns" away.

Like going for an evening walk through the new deep snow with the rest of the Lockets and watching heart-in-mouth as they slide down a steep bank in the park that has been so well used during the day that it has become compacted ice - and brilliantly slippy

then treating everyone to fish and chips from the new Chippy in the village, spotting this amazing snowman on the way home

then coming in to a roaring coal fire and watching the original Dr Dolittle on DVD.

My knitting didn't work, nor did the necklace I made this afternoon and we're no longer predicted to get the heavy snowfall that was forecast so it looks like we'll be at work and school as normal tomorrow, but I did discover that a (very) few of you shared my happiness at neatly fitting tin contents so I thought I'd amuse myself by showing you my most satisfactory storage solution:

this tin -
which contains my gadgets and gizmos for putting in press-studs

can you see how well the handles of the gadget fit round the teeny tiny box that holds the gizmos that insert the doofahs?

And the flat tins (which used to contain charm squares and a CD pattern) now hold all the doofahs that you use with the gadget and gizmos.

And it all just fits perfectly.............................

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! How I love using this tin!

How I love knowing that everything I need is just there and easy to find.

How I must need therapy.

So moving swiftly on, why don't you have a look at a blog written by a much saner member of the family?

Go on! She'll be ever so pleased if you do..........

Oh, now you have me wanting tins to keep my own press stud kit in. Though I usually end up bashing mine in with a hammer as I don't (yet) have the groovy gadget. Hmmm, I feel a treat coming on. I was going to buy a walking foot with carefully saved pennies but the shop said the price has gone up from £46 to £75 since October so that's not going to happen!

£75 for a walking foot? Dottycookie's being ripped off! I seem to have two for free!

Glad there's a few things to keep the uns at bay. Fish and chips sound marvellous. I just made sausage rolls with home-made parmesan flaky pastry. Oooohhhhhh yeeeeeeessss.

The gardening tin is so sweet!

I've been carting around some of my little tins for years and years, through multiple moves and thousands of miles. And it IS lovely when things fit in them "just so" :)

You're so funny -- I love your highly technical names for your "tool". I'm very happy that you've kept the "un"s at bay -- I've missed your updates. Looks like you've all had a good weekend in the snow. And how fun for Ms. Dot to have a new blog -- and a perfect subject too!

I also have a deep abiding love for the perfect container - I think that is why stores like IKEA do so well - its the promise of perfect storage....

Nah, you don't need therapy - tins and sorting things is your therapy! Nothing like seeing everything sorted with a little home to keep it happy... so don't say that cos if you need therapy then I need it too :0)

Glad the uns are passing as you play with your doodars.

Oh I'm sure having everything nice and tidy in one place like that is very pleasing when you get to that last step in the process. Me I'd be wandering around the whole house finding all the bits stowed in different corners of all the rooms! (lucky I only have 5 rooms)

That snow is just unbelievable to me. I LOVED the big snowman. I'm going to make a garden scarecrow as there's never likely to be that much snow here. I didn't like to mention last time about the tidy tin stuff, but I also am a culprit of loving all that neatness fit in the box kind of stuff. Often however, I can't find the box!! Off to the movies today in the cool as it's another scorcher here.

I love the concept of everything stored neatly in its own little tin, but so far I haven't actually put any of it into practice - oh, except for safety pins. LOL!

glad the UNs have left you - I always feel a bit that way after christmas, everything can seem a bit flat until the first signs of spring start to appear. Fish and chips and spot of terrifying sledging are a good antidote and your lovely tins would make anyone smile!

Gosh how tidy and organised are you?

Very satisfying tin packing there, I quite understand how pleasing this is.
