Being quiet

Sorry I've been so quiet for so long - I just don't seem to have my blogging voice at the moment and I feel like I haven't really done anything blog-worthy lately.

I even stopped knitting for a while but I do have a few photos of some finishes and half finishes to show you like this dragonfly sock that I finished this afternoon

this no-purl monkey that I finished ages ago but haven't got round to photographing

my finished PAIR of tadpoles - that I've even worn - and they're lovely!

(I make a point about the fact that I've worn them as they are the only pair of socks that I have finished this year that have actually made it anywhere near a pair of feet - I think I just enjoy the knitting process and don't actually need to wear any of my finished items - bizarre)

and a Hitchhiker scarf that was going so well until I realised I was going to get some really long rows to knit.........

I cast on another mystery sock with this lovely hand-dye and gorgeous beads

but unlike Mrs Moogs, I got totally sick of it part way through the second clue and frogged it with glee!  Lesley's finished socks are lovely but mine were never going to work out.

I've also bought some more, specially dyed for me, Ring-a-Rosie handpainted sock yarn in a lovely turquoise that I'm planning on keeping until our holiday in Scotland.

We've had two little Lockets' birthdays in the last couple of weeks which have been fun

Daisy is now 11 and Fred 9 - they are growing up fast and Daisy can't wait to go up to senior school in September - she's even decided to go to summer school there for 4 days at the beginning of the holiday although her initial reaction was "why would I want to go to school in the holidays???"

And my other main focus of attention over the last couple of months has been good old Slimming World so I am now food obsessed but successfully so as I have lost 1 stone 3lbs in 9 weeks - shame there's another 4 stone to go ;o)

Now the reason for this post is to ask your opinion

Should I frog this sock???

I absolutely love the hand-dyed yarn that Quinn sent me, and I like the look of the sock, and I've nearly finished the first one, but I hate the actual knitting of the pattern - it just doesn't work for me at all and I really want to put Quinn's beautiful yarn to the best possible use.

I think I have pretty much decided to rip it out - partly because I have already cast on a Tadpole with the other half of the yarn!  Now that's a much nicer pattern to knit.

I could always have odd socks though, couldn't I, matching wool but different patterns?

Lovely to see you back Lucy. Lots of fabulous socks... I actually like the pattern on the green socks (though it's probably too late by the sound of things). Happy birthday to those little Lockets.

Good to hear from you, well done for loosing so much weight. Think of the pounds you have lost rather than how many more you have to go. xx

Hi Lucy, nuice to hear your news. I am with you on the slimming part- with a looong way to go. I can't offer any knitting advice-they all look great to me!

Frogs, and tadpoles . . . socks . . . knitting . . . all another language to me, but great to hear from you Lucy. I too am on the weight loss plan. So far I've lost 2.9kg but still a long way to go. One day at a time hey!

Oooh, wouldn't that be a fun idea -- matching wool socks with different patterns. And whaddya mean you haven't been doing much -- you've accomplished way more than I have in the last few months (this kitchen re-do is for the birds!) It's wonderful to see you back, I hope you won't be gone quite so long next time!

Oh -- and Happy Belateds to the cute little Lockets!

I wonder if anyone would notice the mismatched yet matching socks? I think you should try it and see!
Am v impressed with your weight loss - I was good all the way into the 'Ideal'zone of the Wii and then congratulated myself by eating whatever I pleased again. Sigh, just not designed to be skinny I guess.

So good to hear from you, Lucy! I like the idea of mismatched yet matching socks. I sometimes wonder if the amputee unit at a hospital would like sock donations from people who don't want to knit the second one. I can never remember what a stone is, and had to look it up (again). Good for you! I am participating in the endless battle of keeping off the 48 pounds it took me eight years to lose. :>}

NIce to see you here again and catch up with all of your news. You've been very busy on the sock front - I'm a little jealous here as I just can't seem to handle socks - all that knitting in the round still scares the pants off me! You always seem to pick the perfect yarn for your socks and they all look lovely - if you want to frog and turn that one into a tadpole (sounds funny!) then you go for it - otherwise it might be quite fun to have different patterned ones in the same yarn, like Anna says. Belated happy birthday to the getting-bigger Lockets. Like Daisy, Amy is so excited about senior school in september. Unfortunately they don't do a summer school or she'd be there like a shot! Lastly, well done on your weight loss - that's pretty impressive! Don't go to far and loose your cuddly quality though!

It's nice having you around again, you leave a significant gap when you're not around and I often wonder what you're up to. Wishing you lots of lovely relaxing knitting and peaceful, fun times over the summer, keep in touch when you're able, J xxx

Hello Locket!!

Happy birthdays to Daisy and Fred. Monster is looking forward to secondary school too and Minx is looking forward to year 6 as her year 5 teacher is turning out to be more than a bit of a nightmare!

I love the idea of odd matching socks. Is it too late or have you already frogged? Maybe the adventure socks would be good in that lovely green?

Well done on that fantastic weight loss :o) I'm right there with you, although I seem to be going a lot slower than you!

Happy birthday to the little Lockets. I think odd matching socks would be cool and a fashion statement. Bella starts high school in September too - time flies. Well done on the weight loss - I've lost, and then stalled. I really need to get back on with the losing.
