HAPPY EASTER!!!

Just before we went away on holiday we had a sort of "party" at our house where my friends Jane and Helen set up shop in our living/dining room! I could get used to having a shop in my house when it is full of such gorgeous things - Phoenix cards and goodies from Jane and Helen's Busy Bee Studios Easter decorations and treats.

The evening seemed to go really well - I'd invited about 35+ friends and about 23 came which is really good for one of these kinds of events and it was really good fun - I'd definitely like to do it again!

On Easter Sunday we had a lovely time with my mum and dad including the annual Easter Egg hunt for the children. The weather was beautiful and the company was just perfect!

But just in case you think it is all sunshine and holidays in Locketland I'll tell you about the other fun we have been having...................................

A happy visit from the Carpet Beetle Family!

Or as they have now been rechristened "Those B@$#*&D BEETLES"

Our bedroom has been invaded so we have been blitzing them as fast as they appear and thoroughly spring cleaning. My lovely next-door neighbour is coming on Thursday to lay laminate flooring as we've just had some ropey old bare boards for the last 5 years because the carpet we'd inherited when we moved here was just too horrible. And we have bought a brand new bed - because ours broke ages ago and we have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

But do you want to know the real irony of the situation?

WE DON'T HAVE ANY CARPETS!!!!!! (except for on the stairs)

So WHY do we have carpet beetles?

'snot fair!

But hopefully by the end of the week we will have a lovely new bedroom with the beetle problem under control (lots of insecticide in between the floorboards before the new flooring goes down should do the trick - I may garden organically but when it comes to my house it's a different matter!) - and I've even treated myself to some of the lovely new bedding that Lesley got the other week - it's gorgeous!

I'll leave you with a happy picture to lighten the mood..........

Easter Sunday with the Lockets about 5 years ago (and my one and only scrapbook page!)

Next time I'll show you the lovely present I received in the post today.

Oh! Teeny Easter Lockets! I'm taking a small break from folding smalls. Thanks for bringing a smile amidst the laundry. Emma x

Back in the days of suits and briefcases (a loooooong time ago) I worked on a project about neem oil. It's supposed to wipe out ALL creepy crawlies and is from a very clever tree. http://www.herbal-shop.co.uk/neem_tree_oil.htm

BTW, had a spot of trouble with a teeny reptile. He's on his way xxx

Neem oil? I wonder if that would work on ba***rd carpet moths - we do have carpet and these beasts are gradually destroying it. Inthink we got rid of them last summer but I fear they may just be hibernating. If they get into my fabric stash I shall resort to napalm ...

Oh no! B@$#*&D Beetles sound horrible! We've always got trouble with Moths. Pesky holes in everything no matter what I do... lavender and cedar oil everywhere.I like the shop in your living room and lovely Easter pics.

Hmmm, I don't know what a carpet beetle is, but it doesn't sound fun. We're having problems with ants -- they're SO annoying!!!

Ahhh... you've taken that first step on the slippery slope that is scrapbooking. You'll have patterned paper coming out the whazoo before you know it ;)

Eeek! on the carpet beetles. Cheeky little barstewards. Nuke 'em good and proper I say.

I too have heard that neem oil is supposed to be good for bugs of all kinds although I gather it stinks to high heaven (although if it were stink or bugs I would go with the stink ;)....)
Glad to here that the shopping went well, it is so nice when a plan goes well.. Hope you got some nice things.

Sorry to hear about your pesky beetles! That really is unfair to have carpet beetles without a carpet and I hope you manage to get shot of them very soon. Neem oil may work - I've been using neem powder in the garden today (it's an organic fertiliser and is good for banishing bugs - it really stinks though!)Great easter pics though and it sounds like you had a lot of fun - just like we all did at the picnic. Thanks so much for getting it organised we have a really lovely time and I'm so pleased to have met you, uyou lovely person! I hope we can do it again sometime x

oh dear! those beetles sound horrid. I once had a problem with moths. Couldn't figure out where they came from and then one day, on clearing out the kitchen cupboards I found them in my turkish delight bought back from a market in turkey ... wouldn't have been so bad, but i'd scoffed half of it before on the way home .. YUK!!!!!!! xx

Carpet Beetles? Had to google 'em to figure out what they are - and am now feeling very, very sorry for you :( Yucko!
Check your fabric stash as the info said that they sometimes like cotton, linen, and rayon as well as wool. Eeek!

Love the egg-hunt pics, have to upload mine so I can share :)

Oh no carpet beetles. Icky! Now you have made me all itchy. We have a horrible icky carpet and I am sure it must be teeming with the things. It has to go. NOW. Thanks for the motivation to get rid of it!

Invasion by any crawly thing is not good.....not sure we have carpet beetles here. Your living room shop looks very interesting.

I wouldn't know a carpet beetle if one appeared and bit me on the bum. How do you know you have them? :-O

Hope all goes well with the bedroomy makeover. Lovely Easter photos.

Lovely eggy hunt pics - fab one of Dot and the dog!

As for those pesky beetles - yuk! I was just reading all the comments and thinking how lucky we are not have bugs and moths to deal with....then I remembered I have had a few ant visitors recently (haven't a clue where they're getting in) and we did have little mice with clogs on tap dancing in the loft not too long ago.
Eeeeuw!

I love wildlife - but only in the wild thank you very much.

Hi. I bought the bedding too. It's soooo pretty. What colour curtains are you going to match with them? I'm having trouble deciding and need a bit of inspiration. Any ideas?? Sue xx
