Filling up the Pink Room

I've been busily moving in to my lovely pink room and anyone foolish enough to be passing by gets dragged in to admire it! So I thought I'd show it off again to you guys!

Extra shelves have been put in and filled up but I have done a lot of editing too so that the sewing room doesn't get too cluttered. My books have also stayed inside just incase it gets damp as they are the one thing I couldn't wash!

So now it is all looking pink and perfect I really need to get on with some crafting!

I did make two things while it was being created:

1. A new cover for my ironing board because there was no way a brown stripy ironing board was coming into my beautiful pink room!

(I used this tutorial but bodged it badly so don't look too closely)

2. These rather wild and wacky crocheted cushion covers inspired by Lucy at Attic24 and pattern explained by Moogsmum!

And the first thing to be properly sewn in the new room were the borders on this quilt as the central panel has been sitting in a box for AGES!

I'm now, very badly, hand quilting it. How do people do it properly???? Mine's all wrinkly and puckered on the back and my stitches are dreadful! Good job the fabric is so pretty!

And for those of you who thought I'd be locking the door on my pink room to keep little monsters out I thought I'd better clarify matters. The little Lockets are very welcome and have even been making some "sewing with mummy" vouchers so they get one to one time with me!

Lucy - it all looks so lovely now you've got yourself organised - we expect a parade of wonderfully crafty things from now on in - hey you might even have inspired me to tackle my cutting and sewing area which is currently about 12" deep in sewing detritus except the area immediately round the sewing machine - mind you I am just way too busy piecing quilt tops at the moment to be dragged away - perhaps once the tops are completed I might just have to have a clear up to have enough space to machine quilt without dragging all the rubbish in the area onto the back of the quilt as I sew :o)

Don't faint with shock but I had to leave a comment. I can't believe you have anotated your photographs! Your pink palace looks fabulous and I am rather envious. Here's hoping I will get to spend more time in there too. In case you wondered, I won't be making a habit of commenting! Jane x

What an absolutely fabulous room! It puts my little corner of the new house to shame (although I am nowhere near as productive as you, so its probably a good place for me to start!)

Oh its all so perfect.
The quilt looks great,I'm sure any little wonky stitches will add to its charm, although Im sure there are very few of them.
I really like the crochet stool cover, beautiful.

Oh this looks lovely Lucy and how nicely your quilt matches! I am ever so slightly pink with envy, although I have a sewing space, it has no natural light (in the basement) which you seem to have tonnes of!

Oh, Mrs Locket, you have a real live studio! Gorgeous. I am going to leave this post up on the computer so that Mr DC sees it 'by accident' ... well, it's worth a try!

Oh, oh, oh! I love all your neatly marked boxes. Imagine just having to look in the box marked "zips" when looking for a zipper. I have to open a drawer and rummage through ribbon, elastic, thread, etc. and if I can't find the one I need, check a different drawer.

What a fantastic space!! I'm amazed how quickly you have made it your own with all kinds of sewn love around you. I can imagine the sheer pleasure of making a steamy cup of tea with a plate of home baked cookies and disappearing in there to peruse a magazine or sew. So wonderful!!

Lucy it's so fun seeing the finished room, I loved pouring over every last picture and caption. You're already having happy hours there. I just love it all, especially the pink, how happy it looks and will keep looking even in the depths of winter.
We move house in two weeks and after seeing your pics I'm a little worried, my craft space will now be a small shared conservatory, you have me a little worried that I won't have walls to fill up!

What a wonderful place you've got!
It's so great to have a space of your own, where you can leave what you are working on for a while, and then come back and pick up the thread again...
Enjoy you new haven, both with your kids and alone!
