The New Girl

Ok, so tomorrow is my first day in my new job.

Ladydi asked for a photo of me so here I am*.

A bit empty headed as always!

But do you like my new red shoes and bag?

I really do! In fact I'm quite excited about them - and I'm really NOT a shoes and bag kind of girl! Give me a pair of imitation crocs and a handmade bag and I'm happy. But I do REALLY love these red shoes! They make me very happy!

But I have to confess that I'm rather nervous about starting work again.

And my coping strategy when feeling nervous is to be prepared! (But I'm no Boy Scout!)

I was prepared for my interview and rather astounded the interview panel when I turned up with a file of research that I had done for the post (nothing major, just stuff I thought I should know)

And so that I feel super-organised and prepared for tomorrow I came up with this design yesterday:

My very own
"fit-everything-in-that-you-could-possibly-need-except-the-kitchen-sink-folder-wallet-pocket-notepad-thingummy"

All in gorgeous Kaffe Fassett fabric that I bought from Ring-a-Rosie's on Friday when I had a little meet-up with Charlie P (and Mr P of course - but more on that another day)

There are a million pockety things and it can fold back on itself so just the notepad is at the top.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out because I had to figure it out by myself.

The only problem is that although I am very organised and have lots of info on this new job, I haven't actually, erm, read it all yet!

Still, I'll LOOK like I know what's going on and that's what counts isn't it?!?!?!

P.S. * I asked Daisy to set up my outfit like this as it is what she always used to do when she was about 4 or 5 and had decided what to wear the next day including jewellery and accessories! And that's not a very messy bed - it's a blanket laid on the floor so my new clothes didn't get messy!

Love your outfit! And you are looking very, um, thin? ;) And that portfolio is gorgeous!!

I think your strategy for facing a new challenge is an excellent approach.
My "strategy" consists mostly of things like waking at 1 AM and 2 AM and 3 AM and fretting about nothing...like yours better!!

Off to a lovely start, you are :)

And have the organizing folders made it to the etsy shop yet?

ps: as one who is looking forward to someday STOPPING work, your outfit i fab. Yes, LOOKING like you know what's going on is AS important (if not MORE important) than actually knowing anything. But remember, you have a 3-month time limit on using the "I'm new here" excuse. Any longer and your co-workers will turn on you like a den of vipers. Just sayin.

Now get out there and show 'em what you can do!!!

That first photo made me laugh! I know you said your diet was working...but don't you think you've taken a little too far? LOL

Hope today went well...nothing worse than the first day jitters..but it's once it is done it can only get better.

Hope you got there ok, Locket!! I was rather alarmed to hear you'd missed the metro and have had visions of a red-faced flustered you bursting into your new boss's office....

....mind you, you'll coordinate with your lovely shoes and bag ;)

Very impressed with your super organised folder. I think you should sell patterns for it!

Can you design one that'll make me organised enough to get off here and actually do some work?

Red is the very best colour for shoes. I love red shoes. The only thing is, a friend once said to me 'ha, ha, ha, Red Shoes, no Knickers'.

Most of my shoes are red. And I do wear knickers.

Hope it all went ok.

Good luck Lucy! Or rather, hope it went brilliantly.

Love the red shoes - everyone should own a pair (and I think I've oggled yours in the window of the well-known-high-street-shoe-shop recently)!

By the time a person is the 24th commenter she might sound a bit repetitive saying, "LOVE the red shoes, hope it all went great, they're VERY lucky to get you, love the organizer, etc., but I'll say it anyway. Thanks for the photo!

Lovely outfit Lucy .. GOOD LUCK for today .. There must be something very primal about red shoes because they have been adored since forever by women and girls, and fairy tales written about them in every language ... you never hear a story about magic black shoes ... just like a Ferrarri isn't fast unless it's red .. hmm interesting thoughts for my day ... xx

The only colour shoes that beat red in the feel good stakes are green. You will look very professional in your outfit and with organiser to boot.
