Poorly knitting

Being poorly and spending all my time in my cosy corner has definitely increased my woolly-productivity

During the recent London adventure we went to Loop - such a fabulous shop - and I bought some Malabrigo Silky Merino.....

I'm now totally in love with this wool and just want more and more - it is gorgeous!

And I really love the Baktus scarf and pretty-ified Toast mittens that it became.

It was extravagant - but not too bad when you think of what you could pay for a lovely soft scarf and mittens, and definitely not bad when you think about how much I enjoyed every minute of knitting it.

I've also managed to finish another sock (the orange one)

and had to photograph it very quickly, along with another I found in my knitting basket, because my feet were FREEZING and I was desperate to put them on! I have spent the last week ONLY wearing handknit socks - they are so cosy and lovely - I just need to knit lots more!

I even managed to dig out my ripple blanket, sew in all the ends (thousands) and add a couple of rows.

It's going to stay on the sofa now as it is big enough to be useful and now the ends are tidied up I can just add a row whenever I feel like it.

Finally, although I haven't been feeling well enough to play on the sewing machine, I have been looking at my Christmas quilt and need your advice.....

It is small enough to benefit from a border so

a) do you think it should have one or not?

and if so should it be

b) the red?

or

c) the turquoise?

What do you reckon?

Turquoise border!

Your scarf and mittens are lovely and I totally agree about the gorgeous Malabrigo wool - yummy. It's been good to share many a knitterly moment with you this week - although it's a shame we both have to be sick to do it :(

Glad to see you were making good use of your poorly time! My DD2 was off this week (3 days with a cold)...I got her nativity costume done, some blocks for a swap and a good chunk of a tree skirt completed!..There has to be a silver lining to all this cabin fever! ;o)

Yeah! Another Baktus joins the world - and such a lovely coloured one too. I wear mine so much!

Great socks - love that orange yarn.

Definitely add a border - but can I be a real pain here and say that in school we always double mount things. So I vote for a red AND turquoise border. (And no smutty comments Trashy on double mounting things!)

Turquoise - it's softer and prettier than the red and just right for a person with the bleurghs. Hope you feel better soon, Lucy.

I'd go with Turquoise too --- did you know Kemps are having a sale on Regia sock yarn, absolutely loads of colours and only £1.20 a ball?

Turqoise (but then, it is my favourite colour).

Lovely stuff missus.

Another vote for the turquoise border! Actually, the other blues would look nice, too.

Lucy, what is the orange sock yarn, please? I don't remember seeing it before, and it's very pretty! Socks are my always-on-the-needles projects.

Gorgeous knitting. I too have recently succombed to the softness of Merino, I fear there's no going back. And to the wearing of homemade socks every day - I'm rather hoping I might manage eventually to have a pair for every day of the week. As the quilt, definitely a border and in my mind defintely red. But then I am a red kinda gal!

Oh I am rather tired, seems I can't spell and I missed words out of my comment...!

Turquoise, without a doubt. XXXX

Love the socks, and they make a snazzy pair together!
I'd go with the red if you want it to be Christmassy.
Take it easy and keep getting better x

love what you have been knitting, and love the turquoise!

Hope you soon feel better Lucy, yes the quilt needs a border and I love the read for a christmas quilt. It looks beautiful already, if you feel up to bordering it will be beautiful again. mmm! not sure that made sense - sorry

Definitely the torquise. It's more balanced and the red swamps it, somewhat.

Hope you feel better, soon.

RED, RED I would like Red!!

Well, I'm in the minority here -- I'm going for RED since it's a Christmas quilt! Hope you're feeling better just in time for the weekend!

I do love those socks! I also love the thought of you wearing one orange and one pink - so pretty. I also vote for the double border, first white, then red - so Christmasy. :>}

I'd prefer the turquoise, because the red one connects too strongly to the red parts of the quilt itself, which will give the overall-look a ladder-like design. I can hardly imagine this to be intentional.

Julia Moore said...

This is fun, a vote! It should be turquoise, and the back can be red, if it isn't already some other fabric.

Turquoise! Although the red does pop more. Love, love, love the ripple blanket. So very pretty. Thanks for all the lovely commenting on the dollies.Thought I'd have the time to catch up on commenting on all my fave blogs (like yours) while on Thanksgiving vacation but look - I'm back home again and barely catching up. Have a lovely week!

Fabulous knitting. I'm ROFL at the thought of you sat there in odd socks! I still haven't managed to master the sock knitting thing. I just can't get to grips with the DPs at all. I think I will have to put that on my non-resolution list as something to try and accomplish in 2010. Any recommendations for an easy pattern greatly appreciated!

And about the border..... definitely turquoise.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather- hope you get better soon.
I would say red as it's warm and christmassy. Although the wiggles stand out more with the turquoise, the red just makes me smile more :-) ....but it's your quilt- which colour makes you smile?

Hope you feel better soon, I have to say your corner on the sofa looks very cosy and lovely. I am so jealous of your knitting skills, I wish I could knit, if I actually practised I maybe I could lol x
