Feeling special

Domesticali's idea to organise a "7 days of specialness swap" for the miserable month of February was truly inspired.

I was very lucky to be partnered with Kristy over at Vintage Pleasure and have been having a wonderful time opening my gorgeous parcels (while worrying at the same time that the goodies I sent to her weren't half as nice as the ones I have received)

My first present was this beautiful pin cushion and vintage button collection........

next I opened these wonderfully fragrant candles - wild rose and pink champagne.........

and today I opened this stunning collection of notebooks!

I can't wait to see what is in the next four parcels - but I am being very good. Although I have to confess that I did open day 1 and 2 on the first day as I knew the postie was a day later delivering my parcel than he should have been - naughty postie! (or should that be naughty me?)

Meanwhile I have been busily knitting away - some squares for Trashy's secret birthday present, a new Baktus in gorgeous purple Rowan silk and merino that I bought half price in John Lewis' sale,

and this new and very beautiful Lacy Baktus using the gorgeous Cherry Tree Hill sock-weight merino that I won in Michaela's diet-raffle (originally donated by Quinn).

I'm loving how it looks - and even though it is a REALLY simple pattern, those holes make me feel ever so clever - especially as they are in the right place!

More snow is forecast for next week - but sadly not enough to let us stay at home :o( But there's just one more week to go before I'm off for half-term with the little Lockets! Hooray!!!

P.S. I forgot to mention one important thing about February. It is the month when I have pledged not to spend any money on crafty items. Please keep an eye on me. I am as likely to succeed in this as Michaela is in her plan to finish all those projects this month! ;o)

Oof so much loveliness Lucy. That holey scarf is so clever! I love that tying one too - didn't Moog make one of those aswell?

You sound rather chirpy -I hope the approaching spring is making things feel less 'un'

Lovely swap goodies Lucy! This swap has been so much fun, hasn't it? I'm trying to have a no-crafty-spending February too, but I'm struggling already!!

Love that purple scarf. I must get round to making one of these!
Fab goodies too. You're right, a totally inspired idea from Ali.

I love your choice of projects! ;) I also made a Lacy Baktus with sock yarn, as a gift for a friend who keeps calling it a "handwoven scarf" - with that drape-y, hole-y pattern, it does make people look twice :)

Yes, this swap has been a lot of fun - I need to do a roundup post tomorrow I hope!

Glad to hear you sounding a bit more like yourself ...

Beautiful presents! Blame the postie... sure sure! ;) Your knitting looks great too. I'm sure my 'holes' would be more random than that!!! ;) Maybe I could do it without even trying to put holes in it! It looks really effective though. :) Hope you're surviving the snow! DH has the day off today cause we had 3 inches of rain over the weekend... too wet for farmers to work today! I LOVE RAIN DAYS!! ;)

What lovely goodies Ms. Locket! It's really fun to see all the february swap posts. Your knitting is beautiful -- as always. And no new crafty goodies this month??? Good Luck with That!!!

The swap has been splendid hasn't it, just the thing to brighten a grey February.
I've had Baktus on my to do list for a while but with my recent granny square addiction it's not been knitted!

Apparently I've been under a rock as I hadn't seen the Baktus before!
Now I can't wait to make one, or several. Lord knows I have the stash to use up. And I don't know if it's an "old-lady" thing or what, but my neck and shoulders are always cold! I've even taken to knitting various cowls to wear not just with my daytime outfits, but even to bed some nights!
Thanks for sharing the swap items and brightening my cold and dreary February day!

This is shocking! Why do you not believe me? I have now finished 2 of the items and only have 3 socks, 8 blanket squares and 2 wip's to knit some of but not finish. This is all so do-able. I have 3 weeks to do all this in. Surely I can knit a fair-isle fishy sock in 6 days? That will give me plenty of time to dawdle over the other things.

As to you not buying any crafty stuff in february... snort, snigger, guffaw. Yeah Locket. As if!

oh what fUN...seems UNness has passed (like a bad taco would).. now those gifties are lovely and I am on a no buy this month too.. apart from BOM's I mean you pay as you go with those!

HOpe all is well on your patch of the planet.. am thinking of you freezin' your bott bott off whilst mine is meltin' in the HOT..

I'm looking forward to seeing your lacy scarf finished. I started the baktus before christmas and ripped it out as I didn't like the way it was knitting up. Everytime I see one I want to do one though as they all look great.
The swap is a brilliant idea.

Golly, what a clever and productive person you are, Mrs L. I didn't know that scarfy thing was called a 'Baktus' ... hmmm, is it simple? x

Oooh, I do like that stitch with the ever so evenly spaced holes. Something else I need to learn! No crafty shopping for me, either, except ABSOLUTE NECESSITIES! You know, like some baby blue yarn. :>}
