Thank You!

Strips it is!

Thanks for all your advice on my father-in-law's quilt. I went with the strips - which is what I really wanted to do all along before I dithered! Here is the finished quilt top - it's not very accurate and unfortunately the border fabric is rather stretchy so it didn't really behave very well when I was sewing it on. But I don't think Grandpa Biscuit is going to complain.

Daisy has been at a friend's house today so we have had a day of only 2 children - so Fred built his wooden castle and played with daddy while Dorothy and I finally put together the doll that we have been making for about 4 years! She has sadly lost one leg over the years of construction so we just hope she is good at hopping!

I'll have to introduce her to the Sausage's bow-legged cat!! The quilt is beautiful - lucky Grandad. Hope the weather didn't get you down too much today - how could it with one-legged dolls and yummy quilt-making? :)

weather here fabulous, dolls all have two legs but one with a very serious squint.

Please tell Granpa Biscuit am willing to trade squinty doll for divine quilt!

You know, I thought I was perfect and never made mistakes.. but I found out I was mistaken! This pattern is VERY FORGIVING, and grandpa's love everything you give them, so I am sure he'll love it (even with a stretchy border).. I'll swap him my firstborn for that quilt any day!

who still thinks you are hoppin' mad making a one legged dolly.. Hey you could make another leg, and put white on the sock so its got a leg plaster on! :O)

You are so funny, Lucy! Maybe you could make a crutch for the poor doll.

You're hysterical Lucy! What a great mum you are -- with a sense of humor. Sorry I missed your quilt opinion poll -- I always end up with too much real life work on the weekends. I would have voted strips though -- so I love what you're doing with it. Grandpa Biscuit is a lucky guy to have such a caring DIL!

You are so very funny! Grandpa Biscuit will be so happy with his quilt and I have always loved on-legged dolls. When I was young I pulled out the leggs of my dolls, they were attached to the body with elastics (rubber bands). You could make her some crutches!

Hi Lucy
Salisbury was lovely but we had to rush a bit as we needed to make sure we were back for the kids. Shame your favourite cake shop isn't there any more - it's all Costa coffees now but then isn't everywhere? We're in Southampton BTW. Glad to bring back happy memories :o)

Oh the quilt is lovely, I have similar fabrics waiting to become a quilt for my son.

Poor doll, but I think she will be all the more loved for her lack of leg.
