Just things

Hello again! Sorry I've been awol for the week - one of the problems was that my camera batteries died and I kept forgetting to buy new ones. The other thing (which is definitely not a problem) is that I have been busily crafting on something secret so I can't share it with you yet - but here's a sneak peek
I loved making the psychedelic baby blanket so much that I carried on crocheting and made myself a scarf!

I think I will put a few more rows of brown round the edge to make it wider and warmer - that's what I love about crochet, you can "finish" it and then when you decide you want to add more you can!

I also finally finished a whole PAIR of mittens for myself!

On Monday I went to school wearing this "pair"

(it's okay though, I don't really have 2 right hands!)

the one I knitted last winter and one from last month - they go fairly well together don't they????

Last week Dot went to stay with Granny and Grandpa Dog (my parents) because she had Thursday and Friday off school and I was working. So on Sunday we all went over to pick her up.

We had the most delicious roast lamb for lunch - roasts at mum and dad's are so fantastic that I never bother cooking them at home because I could never do them as well. The children ate loads but Daisy obviously still had a bit of room left at the end.............................

(just ignore the date!)

and then Fred decided he should help her.............

the main star of these pictures though, is the gorgeous jumper Mum has just finished for Daisy - it's beautiful!

Lots of people across the UK have had loads of snow over the last couple of days. We got a bit but then it all washed away last night which is very disappointing :o(

But look at our lovely weather tree

We should have started it last month but kept forgetting so we are going to do it from the beginning of February instead - as long as we don't forget again!

Hope you are all having a nice week!

P.S. One of my lovely friends has recently started blogging here. Helen lives on an idyllic farm near Durham runs fantastic craft workshops in her beautiful little studio which is full of lovely things I can't resist buying!!! She now has a webpage with a shop and a blog so do pop over to say hello if you get the chance - there are always lots of lovely things to see and Helen is fab!

Mmm.... roasts. We have them often! They are so yummy! We never need dessert though - way too many vegies to fit in! I think that mismatched mittens would be more obvious than mismatched socks. I don't think I'd be game to wear non-matching stuff!!!! BUT, if your hands were warm... I guess that's all that matters!!! It doesn't get that cold here to bother with mittens.... so I don't guess I'm qualified to comment!!!!!

What a lot of loveliness ... I ADORE that scarf, it's wonderful. And the mitts. And the chocolate-scoffing children. And the jumper. And I'd probably have enjoyed the roast lamb dinner too if you hadn't eaten it all! x

Oh, Mrs. Locket, I'm so sorry you haven't had the big snow excitement that so many of our imaginary friends have had. But, inquiring minds want to know....are you ON something??? How on earth are you getting all that needlework done with three cherubs AND a job??? I must go have a nap now... ;-)

I could never beat one of my Mum's Sunday roasts either! Your weather tree is beautiful, would I be right in guessing Phoenix Trading? I do miss them!

Love your scarf Lucy and that weather tree. I was going to get one of those but I forgot. Can you still get them? I thought they would be good for school.

Oooo Oooo I want a weather tree. Where did you get it? I would never noticed they were not a pair of mittens LOL. I also love Daisy's jumper.

Having a quiet week then?

I do love your scarf. I'm not even going to think about making one as my list is tooo long! It might go on my next list though...

I think you should frame those mittens, not wear them, as it may be the only time you do two the same ;-) They're very lovely.

Grand job on Daisy Locket's jumper Granny!

Not sure I dare look at Helen's shop ....maybe one more little peek...

Hiya, don't say I never comment.

Just realised the pics you sent me are the one's blogland can only see a little of - the **** is lovely, forgot to say y'day.

Looks like you won't be needing to cook this week after a feast at Mum & Dad's. I am going to give them ginger beef stew with jacket spuds and summer tiramisu for pudding (frozen summer fruits) when they stay.

ooh, we have that weather tree too! Lucie was given it for christmas, I am trying to stick to colouring it more diligently than the one I began in august, which I tapered off remembering mid november! at the moment we are enjoying colouring pink - her favourite - for snow!

You've been busy(in a good, non-household-chores kind of way)! Lovely scarf and mittens! Why, oh why can't I knit/crochet? And I can't wait to see what your Secret Project is! I know what you mean about not bothering to cook stuff your folks do so well - mum does amazing curries so I never cook them. Pity, since mum lives 22 hors away by plane, so it works out to me NEVER eating homemade curries after all, bah.
