Got the zips!!!!

So what do I spend my time doing?

Tidying!

Well, if I'm honest and want to be precise, I haven't been doing grown up tidying, more like playing really - rearranging my sewing area to make it even prettier! It is still overcrowded and rather messy really but it's mine and I love it!

(sorry about the dark picture - flash doesn't seem to be working)

The curtains are a particular example of Lucyism:
  1. They are made out of tea-towels (except for the spotty fabric)
  2. They are not even half-made yet! One curtain is wider than the other and neither are wide enough. They have no lining. No hem. No edge. And the top bit is just roughly folded over with the rings clipped on. But they are my mess and I love them. (have you heard that before somewhere?) Anyway, there is so much clobber (clutter) on the table that I couldn't close them even if I wanted to!
But, back to business, the zips are here (in quantity!) so I must get to work! These are the wallets I have made so far (I did manage to make two yesterday by cutting down extra long zips) Some have worked well and so will be going on my Etsy shop soon while others are less accurate so I'm not sure what I will be doing with them yet.

I also ventured into the world of "pretty handbag" making with this attempt inspired by my Bend the Rules Sewing book but adapted on the way. It's not right yet, it needs to be deeper and I will have to change how I do the top and handle because I broke lots of needles trying to stitch through the layers! I do think the colours are pretty though.

Hurrah! Pictures of your new sewing area! It looks fab, thanks for sharing (obviously I had to click on the pictures for some up close nosing action).

Good grief you have a lot of magazines. And that old sewing machine is brill. But don't you find it a tad depressing having your ironing board up all the time? Or is it strictly for crafting purposes only?

Oh yeah, and the wallets are smashing!

To set the record straight - the ironing board is only used for "crafting purposes". What else could it be used for? Am I missing something here?

I love the wallets and really covet your sewing area. I have a dream that I'll have one of those one day.
Thanks to Monkee Maker I've had a good old nose round too. Didn't realise I could enlarge the pics - dur!

Your sewing area is an Aladdin's cave of goodies. I learnt to sew on an old Singer very like the one you have. I think I need some magazine files like yours. I have my ironing board set up all the time in my sewing area as well:)
Love the wallets.

Hey Lucy,
The sewing area look great I would like my area to look out on the garden. I'm waiting for a child to leave home so I can have a whole room!

At last I've had a moment to catch up with you! The wallets are really cute -- my favorite is the Dick and Jane wallet. SweetiePie just asked me the other day that she wants to make a wallet and when would I be making another on so that we could work on them together? I'm always inspired by your denim pillows (I'll never forget Fred's birthday pillow) -- I need to remember to put denim with my fabric stash too!
