10 things

1. Spending your lunchtime crocheting certainly brightens up the day at work

2. It takes me 15 minutes to crochet each granny square and a full 6½ minutes to do the cream border.  I know. I've timed it. I'm pathetic.

3. My sewing room was a mess.

4. An hour spent out there tidying with Dot quickly sorted it.

5. There are pretty quilts to be finishing.

6. And exciting new mini squares of fabric to play with but two weeks have passed since it was tidied and I haven't been out there once.

7. Selecting a sixth form for Dot isn't easy work.

8. Joining these squares together isn't quite as neat as my other blanket but I like the way they look like tiles that have been grouted in place.

9. Choosing which colour to crochet next is a very pleasant and distracting past-time but it isn't quite taking the edge off worry about jobs and money today.

10. I've now lost 4 stone but I think I will be joining Fred in "chocolate day" after school - and we're not talking about Weightwatchers chocolate today - it's going to be the real deal.

Edited to add....

Congratulations on your 4 stone Lucy - that is impressive! But I am most wowed by your gorgeous seaglass blanket - such an apt name for such beautiful colours! I like that you have timed making a granny square and I'm off to time myself though I suspect that it will take me quite a bit longer!

Congratulations on your weight loss. I seem to be picking yours up as you drop it. :) I hope things start to get easier on the money/job front.

I love your little Granny Square blanket! I had to smile that you timed yourself making and edging squares. I do things like that too, trying to bring some order into my disordered life.
Another thing we have in common is that I have started WW. I am in awe of your loss (I had to google how much 4stone was in lbs), and can only imagine that you feel proud and wonderful. So happy for you!

Five things:
1) your blanket is growing more charming by the day
2) I would like helpful Dot to come visit me. As soon as possible, please.
3) 4 stone? Seriously? Are you tap-dancing? because I would be!
4) thank you for the idea of hanging quilts from curtain rods - brilliant :)
5) I hope all your readers click to embiggen your photos...well worth it!!

Four stone? Blimey, well done you! I am slowly, slowly starting over again. Half a stone down. Three to four to go.

But I'm sorry - how can Dot possibly be going to sixth form already?!

4 stone is an excellent result! You have earned your chocolate bar. The sea glass blanket is gorgeous. :) I'm sure once you have blocked it and put an edge on it will look straight.

Wow Lucy -- congratulations on the weight loss AND treating yourself to a little chocolate LOL. I don't know what sixth form is (well, I know it has to do with education) but I'd like to suggest choosing quilting for sixth form. Does that help LOL?

Oh and p.s. -- there must be something about crafting at lunch time. When I was working on my yoyos at lunch, I knew that it took exactly 2 1/2 minutes to make one! (I knew we were kindred spirits!)
