Not liking this at all

Seriously, I'm not liking this lending-out-of-little-lockets one bit! It is just so strange and quiet and I feel like I am just marking time until she gets back! Totally weird because I know she will be having an absolutely fabulous time. She was practically fizzing on Monday morning because she was so excited and I just have to think of this photo to remind myself.

But needless to say I am really looking forward to Friday afternoon and I have decided to spring clean her bedroom as "therapy" which is even more weird because I really don't do cleaning and tidying at all!

I'll leave you with some little sneaky peeks of the two mini quilts I am working on at the moment.

The first is for Leanne (and no matter how many times I photograph it it always ends up out of focus!)

and the second is for Rachel - although I'm not sure whether these colours are too dark to be
truly Rachel-ish - what do you think Rachel?

I'm off now to babysit a friend's 18 month old for a couple of hours and I am completely terrified!!!

Seriously Locket, you will be fine. Just remember the calming powers of Phenergen for the micro-terence and G&T for you ;-)

I will be feeling just like you come September as that is when I have to loan my boy out to teachers for a week. He's not even been on a sleepover before! Anyway, the good thing is that you have managed to have a tidy up!noqwz

Just noticed that I have put the word verification in the comments! LOL!!!

Hope Friday comes round quickly so you have your little locket back. Like you say, she's probably having a blast.

And for the 18 month old.... if all else fails, there's always gaffer tape ;)

Awww, it's been so long since I've interacted with a tiddler like that - I envy you that. Unless it cries, or is sick or something ... then you're welcome to it :-D

Am sure Dot is having the most fabulous time - I was where you are now a fortnight ago. I missed No.1 soooo much :-( But she proudly announced she missed us a bit but wasn't homesick AT ALL!

Oh, Mrs Locket - you'll be fine...and Dot will be having a fab time.
I remember on my first high school trip away from home I went to Yorkshire (somewhere) and met a boy called John in the bathrooms at midnight for a snog. It wasn't a real snog though - more like a long peck. And I met my (still) best friend on the trip. It was the best trip ever. I'm actually quite jealous of Dot, do you think I could go on the next school trip with her?

As for the 18mth old, I have no advice. I had to look after my nephew of a similar age the other day and I realised I preferred them either as babies, or 'proper' toddlers. I second trash - phenergen. Or just gin, gin works wonders on little 'uns ;)

Don't worry she'll be fine and back before you know it, how did it go with the 18 mth old - did you both survive:-0

I just read Katy's comment I'm sure your feeling a whole lot better now LOL Lets hope Dots not snogging in the toilets I am in fits over that Ha Ha. I bet she is having the time of her life and she will return to you soon. Also love Trashes comment about the phenergen I would go with that. Love my sneak peek waiting in anticipation.

We're not there yet...but oh dear, just looking at her sitting on her suitcase I can see how hard it would be to let mine go too! Have a big glass of wine and get the sewing machine out, you'll be fine!

Awwww, Dorothy looks SO cute! As do those quilts -- those dark colors are fantastic -- if she doesn't like them .... LOL. Did you have fun babysitting? Our oldest has a friend who has an 8 month old baby and we watched him on Saturday night -- the first time to tend a baby in Years -- we had a great time!

I'm sure Dot is having the time of her life and we mums just have to accept it and be happy for them hard though it is. Just think of all the washing you'll have to do when she gets home, all the wet smelly socks stuffed in the bottom of her bag.....yes I remember that well.

I can't believe I'm only just commenting now! Better late than never!

That's a lovely photo of Dot Locket, who I am sure has had a wonderful time. I'm most impressed that you are spring cleaning - maybe I should try sending my two away so I getthe cleaning bug too!!

Speak to you tomorrow :)

Yes, wine will help (perhaps a spot of chocolate too) and the cleaning displacement activity of course. Strange how cleaning (not my fave thing either) can be triggered by worrying.

More beautiful, beautiful miniquilts. Such lovely colours. Excited to see the full versions.

In between feeds and during naps I'm thinking Russian doll designs...

How did the baby sitting go with the 18 month old?! It all comes back pretty quick!! Hope that your daughter has had an awesome time at her camp. I guess it's only a matter of hours until she gets home!!

just read your latest - i have to tell you that it doesn't get any earier when they are older - having just finished a levels my 'baby' is going off to Glasto festival next week - we have just bought out what seems like the whole of Milletts, what with waterproof trousers, plastics mugs, cutlery, torch, etc - she even got some wellies from, of all places , pimp my boots! probably have a heatwave next week!

Wow... I think letting Dorothy go off to camp for a week would be a lot harder than baby sitting an 18 month old (definitely the case for me anyway...) I'm sure you'll be great :-)

well, it's friday, is she home?!

spring cleaning is always best done when they're not around, i've done L & L's rooms this week, and rid them of all the little bits of broken plastic they insist on keeping just in case...!

Awwww, Lucy. I hope that by now you are reunited and having a lovely time!

Our year 3 & 4 went off on an overnighter this week, for the first time. They had a wonderful time but it seems waaaaay to soon for my liking!

...but you've had 3 18-month-year olds before! They're not that terrifying surely!
Just realised Dot will be back already- hooray! I hope she had a great trip. If it was this hard to part with her for a week, I dread to think what sort of state you'll be in when she goes away to university for a whole TERM :s
The quilts both look very pretty indeed. R.E. out-of-focusness- do you have a 'macro' button? Just discovered mine and it makes the world of difference when taking close-up shots.
