Post 150 - Edited to add a clue!

Well we all know I can "talk a bit" so it won't come as any surprise that I have reached my 150th post so keep reading as I will be doing a giveaway at the end of this long rambling monologue.

I have gone completely "mini-quilt-swap" bonkers and have arranged to do 17 direct swaps on top of the one with my partner Leanne!

I'm really excited about this at the moment but don't be surprised if panic sets in soon! Thank you everyone who has asked to swap with me - I hope you like what I make for you! All of you that is except for Mrs Moogsmum who sent me this helpful email in response to my question of what she would like me to make........

"I'd just like something that is very very complicated and reflects the hours and hours of anguish and toil required to produce it. Sorry I can't be more specific but I hope that's of some help :)"

On Monda's much more helpful suggestion I will be setting up a flickr group soon so you can post pictures of your quilt-swap gifts and creations - and sneak-peeks, fabric choices etc. I'll let you know when this has been done.

In the meantime you should have all received your swap partner's questionnaire details - if you haven't please let me know because cyber-space does like eating my emails sometimes. There was a bit of a delay in me sending them out because of it being the school holidays - sorry about that!

The last two days have been spent with my lovely nephew and niece (BIG sister Ally's children) who are staying with my mum and dad for the week. The little Lockets absolutely idolise their big cousins and have been having a fantastic time.

We met up in Durham yesterday so I could take all the children to the cinema to see The Spiderwick Chronicles. Unfortunately Fred and I spent most of the film here.......

as it was rather scary - but at least it gave me time to get on with some of the sewing for Lina's mini quilt - photographed here hiding behind the gorgeous purse that Lesley sent me that has now become my sewing carrier!

We also managed to find time to go and buy new school shoes for Fred and Daisy (although sadly not for the bargain price of £5 like Dorothy's shoes the other week - and Mrs Moogsmum wouldn't text me any money to pay for them - how mean!!!)

Fred's new alien designed especially for him by the Sausage Monster enjoyed getting in on the shoe buying act although unfortunately they don't cater for monopods in Clarks!

This leads me neatly into the 150th post giveaway.

As you know, I don't have a printer and I am too lazy this time to write out everyone's name to draw from a hat, and I'm far too lazy to use a random number selector and then have to count through comments to see who matches the number, so this time I have decided to do a competition of sorts.

The winner of the giveaway
good old Chick-Chick and Barney (complete with their own supply of chick crumb)

will be the person who correctly guesses (or gets nearest) the (UK) shoe sizes of this motley crew of feet then adds them together to come up with a combined number (eg. 10.5 + 2 + 4.5 + 6 + 9 = 32) Does that make sense? To help you I have found this chart here which should make the international size conversion bit easier.

(I know you can't really see Daisy's feet because of my handbag but you will just have to make it up!)

(Edited to add a clue - the children are 5, 7, 10, 12 and 14)

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
(by the way, I don't even know the answer yet - just off to ring my nephew and niece...............!)

P.S. Hope you like the Little Locket artworks at the top of the post - thought my monologue needed some decoration!

Congratulations on your 150 not out! I am rapidly approaching my century - you obviously talk more than me :-p

Lovely pictures there - your little Lockets are very talented. As is that Mrs M - gorgeous purse.

My guess for the kids feet is 36.5 but as I won your 100th post giveaway I should probably not take part in this one. *blush*

Hope you're enjoying the holidays! x

Ok, I just can't resist the challenge. I'm going to guess 29 1/2.

Congrats on reaching 150 posts!!

Congrats on 150 posts! But really - adding up? You expect us to be able to sew AND add? Ho hum, well in that case I guess ... 22. I am banking on at least one Locket having feet at the small end of adult sizes, otherwise I shall look v. foolish!

Kaz said...

Oooohhhhh that's too hard!!! I can't add up to more than 20 (run out of fingers and toes).

I guess 37.5 If I'm over, can I come and chop toes off to make it fit?!!

Well done on nattering so much!!

HAPPY 150th! You have been busy this week. Poor Fred having to sit outside the cinema!
Using my powers of calculation (and after cheating a bit after zooming in on the shoe box photo)I would say all those feet add up to a nice round 30. It's very strange- I've got so used to my size 5 feet that I completely forgot that for about 13 years I had feet that regularly changed size...and teeth that fell out come to think of it.

Anyway, I will raise my (slightly grubby IKEA) glass and say "Here's to another 150!"

Ha, I love how his socks don't match. As I don't really even know my own shoe size(in American or UK), this is an absolute and total guess based solely on the other people's guesses. And the answer is...34 :o)

Gina said...

Good grief Lucy - all that adding up and calculating is not good for a girl! And then there's the working out if they might be children's sizes or grown up sizes - it's enough to make me want to lie down in a dark room! So instead a completely random guess based on what everyone else has said... 31!
Congratulations on reaching such a milestone. So glad I've got to know you.

Congratulations on 150 posts - well done.

OK my guess (based purely on the size of C's feet and her age in comparison) is 29!

Close?

Well, one person has got it right so far - but I'm not going to tell you which one!!!!

I love your contest idea. No idea what the answer is, lemme see - 5, 7, 10, 12 and 14 = probably 10.5, 1.5, 3, hmm, teenagers - 4, 5 - let's say 24. Of course, if the 7 year old has small feet, it could be a lot higher - but I surely can't be the only one with an 8 year old in a size 3...

Oh heck, I see someone has it right and none of them said that. Well, I guess I should change my answer, so I'll assume one of the teens is a boy with bigger feet - yes, looking at the photo again, appears so - let's say I agree with 27.5!

Probably wrong, but hey, I only started commenting to give my sympathy on shoe buying - we spent £100 on shoes this holiday - two pairs school shoes, one pair doodles, one pair trainers. Luckily only 2 of the 3 kids needed shoes, the other having been shod in Feb half term. (Oh and out of curiosity, I had to work out that my kids are 17.5 (11 + 3 + 3.5 - and the 10YO is very miffed that her younger sis is only half a size behind).

So much more than you wanted to know!

Anonymous said...

Congratulations on your 150th!

I'm guessing 24, and now I'm going to go back and read the comments so far to see if I am even in the ballpark of guesses.

:)

I guess 35.5 and now I really must go and pack. Please stop distracting me or the plane will go without me. And it won't be my fault I have to read these blogs.
Bye.

Blimey, I have to get my you know what into gear. Signing up for 17 other swaps is just complete madness woman!

Has anyone said 30 yet? I'll take 30 please!

Congrats on the 150.
As I am too late to win I would like to lodge a protest - there was far to much converting from Aust into UK. I had to imagine them as Australian kids then convert them to UK kids and then work out their sizes. I had to get my nerdy number loving English husband to help after he had read all the comments, his comment was " do you women have nothing better to do" he also made mention that all the above comments were made within a hour of each other saying do we all just hover around the computer waiting for posts. I said NO they were all busy doing housework and just happened to have a rest at the same time.
My guess would have been 33.5.

HAPPY 150(TH) post!! lol

oh gosh... this is so hard.. are you purposely torturing me to have 'mathematics' in the question??
5,7,10,12,14 = 8+10+11.5+3.5+5.5 =38.5 ???

lucy! i'd sacrificed so much brain cells on this! lol :)

Congratulations on 15o posts, I'm only about 100 behind you!

Have not got a clue about what size feet children have as my little dear has really small feet for her age!

My guess is 30.5, I hope i'm a winner!

If it had been my kids, the total would be 26, when converted to UK sizes. Those feet look smaller, so my guess is 22:-)
Have a nice weekend!

rachelmp said...

Well, I don't think its cheating since I have to change to to UK from Aus, but as the parent of a 5,7 & 14 year old, my guestimate is...31

Well done on all the posts Lucy!

Happy 150th! This is a tough one...So I will say that my converted number is 31.5!

I'm guessing 35. I did see this post early this morning, or was it late last night...those days blur into one, y'know!!! But the thought of any kind of maths made me have a panic, so now (refreshed and calm) I can work it out properly...but taking a complete WILD GUESS!!!

And by the way....a certain lady's quilt is nearly done, la la la la la!!!!

Leah said...

My guess is 39.

I had thought of this before I realised mine would be the 39th comment and there already is a 39.

Maybe it's fate!!

Congratulations on 150 posts! That was quite a crew of feet in the picture. It's nice for your kids to have time with their cousins. We do the same thing, not the feet pictures just the line them up and take a picture with the cousins. It's hard to get all nine of them in the picture at once. Any way, my guess is 23.
