250th Post Giveaway!

Although I have noticed that I don't blog anywhere near as often as I used to it is still clear that I really do talk a lot! So it is no surprise that I have arrived at my 250th post!

In true bloggy style I am having a giveaway.

But seeing as I still have an impressive array of bloggy gifts and swaps to make and send:
  • Mini quilts for Monda, Nicky, Stephanie, Clare, Sally-Ann, Leah and Jo
  • PIFs for Fran, Lucy-Kate, Sally-Ann, Sal, AnnieB and Eileen, and an extremely late, way past it's 365 day deadline, PIF for Pink Petal Designs - so sorry, I haven't forgotten
  • and Katy's fabric swap
(please let me know if I have forgotten anything/one!)

I have decided that this one will be a no-make, from-my-stash giveaway.

I recently bought this fabric in both the blue and the red colourway (inspired by one of Katy's Sunday Stash posts - that girl should not be allowed to corrupt us in this way! Her blog should at least carry a Public-Health-of-your-bank-balance-Warning!)

(Because I have lost/mislaid my camera these photos have all been borrowed from PinkPolkaDotStudio's Etsy Shop - a really good fabric store and where I bought this range. Go and pay her a visit - she has some lovely goodies!)

So my 250th post giveaway will be 1 fat quarter of each of the three red bird fabrics and the only condition of winning is that you leave me a comment telling me what you would make with it if you won.

The giveaway will stay open until Saturday lunchtime (UK time) so start leaving your comments now and then the little Lockets will pick the name out of a bowl at the weekend.

But even if you don't want to win the fabric please leave me a comment anyway because you all know how much I love comments!

Lucy x

EDITED TO SAY THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
A WINNER WILL BE DRAWN THIS AFTERNOON!

dear Mrs Locket, many congratulations on chatting so much. I feel I may be disqualified from this draw as it is after 5'o'clock and my brain is now officially jetlag fried and therefore I can think of nothing to make with your beautiful fabric.

But congratulations anyway!

What would I make? Of course bag - I do love bags:))

Happy 250!!!

Congrats on 250 posts!!! I've only been around for maybe 50 of those!! Your blog is such a nice place to escape to and see some happenings from the other side of the world!! That fabric is really cute!! I've been struggling with finding something I like to use as a "basket" in my new bathroom... that fabric would work really well as a bright and cheery basket to hold my everyday things. I'm sure who ever wins your giveaway will make something beautiful!! Congrats again on 250 posts!!

Congrats on 250 posts of friendship.... Definitely enter me. My daughter away at school has a thing for red birds and I'd make a messenger bag for her and send it in a carepackage to keep her from being so home sick.

Melissa Antolovic said...

oh the possabilities I'd make a window quilt or maybe a cool bag with this fabric as a feature - those birds are pretty cute!

Congratulations!

250 posts already? You hardly sound a day past 29!

Though I love free fabric as much as the next gal I am disqualifying myself from the give-a-way as I have not been terribly productive as of late. Though I will be getting a new-to-me surger in February...

Wow 250-good work! I would like to make a hanging pocket tidy thingammy for me-for my bedroom which is all trees and branches and where some little birds would fell right at home.

Things Hand Made said...

Wow 250 well done. I have only recently found your blog so look forward to the next 250. What to make with the fabric, it would have to be part of a quilt for me.

Shelley said...

What beautiful fabrics!

I've just moved into a new house and finally have a kitchen that looks out over my back garden, so of course I would trim some tea towels, made an apron and maybe combine your fabric with some plain linen to make a lovely tablecloth too!
Now I just have to win otherwise my bank balance will take a dive as I'll have to order some anyway lol.
Love Shelley xx

I woul to turn it into a bag of some sort so I could carry it around and show it off!!

Congrats on 250!

Congratulations on 250 posts! Love that fabric, so cute! I think some cushions made from it would really brighten up our lounge, so that's what I would use it for.

250 blogs, gosh, I've a long way to go until then! What would I make.. hmm, well I'm making a lot of corsages at the mo, so maybe use it in one of those, or a bag, I love bags.. or I'm just making my first quilt, so Maybe I could pop it in there...possibilities are endless!

Unknown said...

Congrats on 250!! That is quite a bit of blogging. The fabric is gorgeous and I had been eying it up. I would most likely put it in a quilt. But a bag is not out of the question.

French Knots said...

Really you like to talk a lot....no!!
Well done on 250 Mrs L!
I would make something for me for a change, a zippered pouch or if I was feeling really brave a bag.

Mary Beth said...

Congrats on the posts!!! Impressive! My passion is applique and bags. I can see a bag here w/ a strategically cut and placed piece of fabric appliqued onto it. Although this very second, I would most likely make a straightjacket for myself. These kids and the lack of sun are driving me crazy.

Jodie said...

Happy Birthday Lucy !!!!
This is just a comment , not an entry. I do not need anymore fabric, no matter how cute it is....

maria said...

Hi, maybe if I'm lucky those little birdy fat quaters will fly off in my direction and I'll make a little wall hanging to decorate my sewing room with them!

willywagtail said...

Congratulations! Wowee! O I absolutely love birds and these are exceptionally beautiful so yes I would love to win. Hope you get heaps and heaps of comments. Cherrie

Nanna said...

Congrats!
I would use that fabric to make a doll quilt.

willywagtail said...

I forgot to say that naturally it would be used in bags. What else is there. Love Cherrie

Julia said...

I would make myself a bag if I won those fat quarters!! OR a mini quilt for my bedroom wall!! They are fantastic!! OR just hoard them and pet them and love them!

Congratulations on having lots to say and sharing so much of it with all of us who will read it!

Lucy, I so enjoy your blog. For me, it's just the right balance of children and chickens and the allotment and sewing and introductions to your bloggy friends--more inspiration. I've been looking for bird fabric, but not too hard, because I should be economizing, so it's fun to see the prints you found. If I were to win, I think I'd make a curtain for some open shelves in my kitchen--much easier to wash a curtain than to drag everything off the shelves as often as I should in order to clean up. Best wishes to all the Lockets, who cheer me up. Kate in Oregon

Casey said...

hmm, I'd probably make something for my girls, possibly aprons or pillows. the fabric is cute!

Congrats on 250!

Rhonda said...

Congratulations on your 250th. I love your blog and would love to be included in the giveaway.
The fabrics you have on display would look great in a Trip around the World or a Stack & Slash and even a Log Cabin.

Miche said...

I need a new bag and this fabric would be perfect. I love the colors. Congrats on your 250th post. It will probably take me 6 years to get up to 250.

Two hundred and fifty!!! Well done! I really enjoy your blog and hope to be around for 250 more :-)

Pick me! Pick me! LOL. I would like to make a padded bag for my camera with space for all the cables etc... or even better a sewing machine cover as the fabric is just so stunning, I wouldn't really want to cut it up too much.

Thimbleanna said...

Lucy! That fabric is adorable. Happy 250th to you! Umm....what to make....maybe a giant pincushion??? Couldn't be a bunny -- birdies on a bunny just wouldn't look right LOL.

Deanna said...

Congratulations on your big 25OHH!

I love the fabric. I think some beautiful pillow cases with some coordinating fabric..scalloped at the borders would be nice.....Lucy, I'm too far away and it would be costly for you if I was chosen. I'll just admire the fabric here!

Again, many congrats!
Deanna :)

wow congrats on your 250th post...
i think that material is so sweet that i think it would be nice to put it on some canvas and hang them up...

Hello to LocketLand, and congratulations! I love watching projects unfold on your blog. When I saw your blog post (before I even knew there was a giveaway), I said to myself, "That's great fabric for Grace!" My almost-two-year-old niece could use an apron for when she comes over to make cupcakes, and those birds would match her personality!

hetty said...

Congratulations on 250 posts! That's a lot of talking! I've only been here for a small part of it, but that part has been quite enjoyable. I would love to win that fabric! I love birds. It looks very spring-like to me and seeing as how we are in the depth of winter here, I would probably just sit and look at it for a spell. And then probably make a bag or put it into a quilt.

Kerry said...

What georgeous fabric. Now let me see......I have seen on some blogs this sort of fabric used as a centre of a log cabin square and thought they were great so with this mind I could start with a table runner/topper or such; then bag - just see how far it goes!! Very nice, thanks for sharing your lovely fabric find.

Kerry said...

Oh; and I forgot to congratulate you on your 250th post - keep up the good work!!

Blossom said...

Congratulations on your 250th post - you old gasbag :-p Please exclude me from the draw as I have severe giveaway guilt at having won so many lately. I still wanted to come in and say 'congratulations' though.

Oh and I agree about Katy - that woman is a public peril with her links to fabric shops all over the interweb! (Actually - thanks Katy, I've made some great finds thanks to you).

Such beautiful fabrics - how can I resist. But what would I make.... can't I just keep in in a drawer and take it out and admire it every so often like I do with most of my fabric? No... okay then I'll make a bag!
I totally missed my 250th post which was a week or so ago!

Well, I was gonna say a little quilt, but someone else said a tablecloth and I could instantly picture it on MY table. I have a fairly large table tho, so perhaps a springy table runner instead.

Congratulations on 250!

April said...

Wow Lucy congrats on 250 posts!

If I was to win your giveway i think I would use it to make myself a little waist pinny - I feel that my retro-ness will be all the more complete for a proper old fashioned waist pinny - with pockets!!!

54th? How can I be the 54th to leave a comment?!!!

I was convinced I'd already left a comment on this post and then it dawned on me that I hadn't.....it was just that you'd described the whole thing to me on the phone in such perfect detail that I thought I had!

Happy 250th bloggy post Locket - here's to the next 250 and a lot more talking :-)

As for that yummy fabric I think I'd have to make a quilt with some matching cushions...or then again I might make a skirt for Minx...or a bag for me....or....

Happy 250th Lucy - lovely fabrics - please enter me in the draw - I'm currently making a garden quilt for a colleague who is having to move from a place where she's built up the garden, thus leaving her garden behind - with the lovely birds and trees on these fabrics they'd be perfect to include in her garden quilt

congrats Lucy, here's to the next 250. As gorgeous as it is I have absolutely no idea what I would make with it :-)

I suspect that I would make:

1) a mini quilt for Lucy Locket
2) PIF giveaways for Dotty designs, Gina and Lucy Locket
3) something for myself for a change!

LOL - Lucy your to do list is a bit like mine. The nice thing is that you will be getting a couple of things from me when I do start making some of these things on the list.

This fabric is lovely - and yes I agree about Katy be a bad (read 'good') influence on fabric buying!

Oh my Lucy ! ! You truly are a blogging ledgend. . . . . . .

Unknown said...

mwahahahahaha - it's my life's mission to make people spend more money of fabric. There's a recession - let's spend our way out of it!!!!

Now, as I already have that fabric (and I am the evil witch that made you buy some for yourself) I should be automatically disqualified, so don't count me in, but what I am making with mine (and would make with yours) is a quilt. And a doll or 2. In fact I might make a doll tomorrow, because those photos have reminded me how bloody lovely that fabric is!!!

Congratulations on 250 waffles. Blimey girl, you can talk ;)

Leah said...

Congratulations on two and a half centuries.

Perhaps if I win I'll use the fabric in the mini quilt I owe you - so you'll get it back - albet in smaller pieces!!

You got me started on the swapping bug and Miss Ginger got me started on quilting - you bloggy friends are fab - keep up the good work xxx

Lina said...

250! Wowsers! I love the idea of giving fabric away rather than making something! The possibilities are endless, but I think a bag or a cushion covers would be perfect. Congratulations!

Hi Lucy,
Love your blog and love the birdie fabrics. I think I would make sewing accessories - little sewing bag with needlekeeper and scissor fob. Congratulations on reaching your 250th Blog Post.

Laura said...

I think I'd make a new holder for double-pointed knitting needles, and then the rest of the fabric would go into my Omiyage stash.

Congratulations on your 250th post!

250 posts already?! Heavens to mergatroid - times really flies when you're having fun, huh?

I love little birds in my garden and if I was lucky enough to win this draw I would use the fabric in a tablerunner to honour those little birds out in our QLD heat-no air conditioning for them(however I could always embroider them an airconditioned birdhouse lol !)cheers teri

Jane said...

Wow 250 posts well done Lucy, If i won your beautiful pieces of material i would probably make a wallet and a tissue pocket for starters then see if i could squeeze some quilt squares. Jane x

Rhiannon said...

Wow they are both lovely!
Congratulations on making it to 250 - I've only got to 28 so far, so feel like a rank amateur in comparison!

I don't get much chance to craft, but if I was incredibly lucky enough to win that fabric (and on an aside, I agree that katie's secret stash is dangerous, though luckily being a poor impoverished student I can prevent myself from even thinking about it!) I would make one (or more) of the following:
A teapot cosie, using the design as the centre
A cover for a can which could then be used as a much needed doorstop for my bedroom door
A patch as a part of a skirt (possibly something involving brown cord)

Congratumalations again
xx
ps. my word verification is 'sting' - how strangely coherent!

My goodness, 250?!?!?!?!
That fabric is gorgeous- I've been dying to try making clothes for ages so would probably make it into part of a nice summery top and matching bag.

I absolutely love Dot's plant cell softie by the way!...and would quite like a slice of her cake :)

Rosie said...

Happy 250th. Personally, I see those fabrics being made into a crochet hook roll.

Annie said...

Congrats on being such a chatterbox!!! I think the fabric is gorgeous. I was thinking a cushion, but then I thought I might stretch it over a canvas and hang it on the wall.

Congrats on your 250th post!

I would love a chance to win the gorgeous fabric in your giveaway. It would be perfect for a quilted bag design I have been working on recently.

Hi Lucy!
Congratulations on 250 post full of inspiration - I love reading your blog even though I haven't commented since...well, since a long time. This is why I don't want to enter this giveaway - although the "Feathered Friends" fabric is definitely on my "must have" list...I have a little courthouse-step-like block in mind to showcase the beautiful big prints, framed with some solid and then another round of a small print, sashing white...well, I'm sure you've seen something similar on the web...
May there be many more milestones of your blog,
hugs, Julia
