Next Generation Brilliance!

This is my chance to boast about my very clever relatives..................

first of all my super clever niece - please go here and look at her fantastic artwork.

Here is a little peek to give you an idea of her work

Isn't it amazing - and she is only 13!

I've never been able to draw or design like that and I doubt I ever will!

Well? Have you been and looked at all the other things too? If not then hurry up - she's incredible!

Ok, you can come back now!

Meanwhile Dot has been busy cooking as she has been inspired by Charlie P to try a new recipe each week whenever possible.

Here is her orange cake made from and adapted version of a recipe in this book that I bought for Mr Locket for Christmas.

Scrummy!

Towards the end of last term she had some science homework where she could make a model of a cell so I told her about the model No.1 (Kitty's daughter's) made. Here is Dot's version using buttons and beads for the chloroplasts and nucleus.

And finally, here is a picture of my Inventor-Daughter Daisy

demonstrating her patent-pending-idea of using a pair of water-pistols when she is having a bath with Fred "To get you clean!"

Did I ever mention that she is rather mad?

And rather wonderful too?!

(P.S. I think I've already boasted about Fred quite enough this month!)

Thanks Maria! But don't let BIG sister Ally hear you! She's the one that spent ages with me when I was young helping make my own clothes etc - and she's the one with the sewing qualification!!!!

I have drooled over your niece's work - so talented. That cake looks wonderful. The fabric cell is fab - much neater and funkier than No.1's - I'm sure Dot will get really good marks. And I think Daisy should take out a patent - that's the best way to get little brothers clean ;-)

Ooh, we were in WH Smith's yesterday, and there was a veritable posse of young boys around those books you told us about recently (The Beast series). No.2 was pretty taken with them, but instead plumped for the latest Horrid Henry. Maybe next time?!

Clever, clever!

I wish I had taken such a sensible and creative approach to studying botany...perhaps I'd remember more of it now!

Wow your nieces drawings are fantastic, cake looks scrummy. Ask Daisy if she could invent a super duper power washer to hose down muddy boys would you?

Hi Lucy,
I loved the artwork. I wish I had the talent to do that!

I am going to try my hand at the hexagon pattern. I've just started crocheting again after many years of not picking up a hook. Hopefully I won't make a mess!

Yay for cake! Looks yummy!! A little orange cake extra that you can do.... in a saucepan put some orange juice, little bit of sugar and water... make it into a runny syrup.... then drizzle onto top of cake.... let soak in... and repeat.... no icing needed! YUMMY! And yes, you do have a talented family! :)

Oh that cell is so brilliant. I can see a whole range of them appearing in the shops very soon - how about an amoeba next? Come on Dot - are you up to the challenge?

I always wanted to make a 3D model of a cell (being a cell biology nerd). Dot's one is magic - love the chloroplasts. Her cake looks delish too. Your niece's work is stunning.

What a talented niece. If I had children that cooked like that I'd be larger than I am. I love cake.

Just been to see Emma's wonderful drawings - What a talented family you all are!

Those clever kiddos are well worth boasting about Locket! Emma's drawings are fantastic - even more so as she's only 13!!

Hope Dot saved me a slice of that yummy cake. Fab fabric cell too Dot!

I've found the best way to clean small boys usually involves a brillo pad and lots of elbow grease ;-)

Them's some good genes them Locket genes ;)

Your niece is really talented! I love that tortoise. Fab work.

Totally loving the felt cell too. I think it's slightly sad that I got very excited about that. It's the biologist in my, I can't help myself.

I'm glad to see that you and your sis are passing on the craftiness to the next generation - what brilliant makes!

Sorry to read about your elbow pain - a night without crafting - what a tragedy!! (Hope it's better now)
