Thank goodness ........................

Thank goodness my friend likes bright colours

because here is the blanket I made for her brand new baby

and if that's not bright enough for you here's a

CLOSE UP!!!!

It's actually rather lovely even if it's not the usual pastel baby shades!

I've really enjoyed playing at crocheting these hexagons and seem to be in a bit of a crochet phase at the moment - there is just something so lovely about the different textures and patterns of crochet and the fact that it just grows and changes with each round - so much fun!

I thought I'd show you the blue versions of the red fabrics that I am sending to Monkee Maker for my giveaway.

I've seen this idea of framing fabrics in an embroidery hoop on a few blogs and it works really nicely

I just need to find a hammer to put some nails in the wall because my experiment of hammering/pushing them in with a plastic wine bottle cork just didn't work................ why is that????? (it's ok, I sometimes wonder about my sanity too......!)

And finally, for today that is, I thought I'd show you the new dinner plates I bought at Matalano-Daaaahling for the princely sum of £2 each

Not my usual chunky pottery style but rather fun and "Springy" which we all need in the dark-post-Christmas-months.

I also bought these tea-towels for £4 for the pack because I'm sure I'll be able to make something lovely with the apple and gingham prints and the waffles, well, they might actually be good for drying up!!!

Hope you are all having a good week so far. Lucy x

Why use tea towels for what they are meant for?!?! They'd be great cut up and used for something else!! I've seen that idea of using embroidery hoops for framing fabric too!! Very effective!! I'm still laughing at you and your cork hammer!!!! I'm thinking it probably won't work!! GORGEOUS baby blanket!!! I WISH I WISH I could crotchet. Cute plates too!! So much happening in the world of the Lockets this week!! Hope you have a good one!

The blanket is fabulous Lucy - I've never understood why babies need to have pastels. I love your fabrics too!

Ooooh, I must go to Matalano (...daaaaaaaahling)! That apple cloth is fab!
...and talking of fab, the baby blanket is very groovy indeed. I can't believe how quickly you've progressed with crochet. Isn't it so much more exciting than knitting?

The owner of that blanket is going to be the funkiest baby in the neighbourhood. It's GORGEOUS!

Hammering ... I always use a steak mallet if I can't find a hammer. *blush*

Beautiful blanket Lucy, what a lucky friend you have! Seriously loving those tea towels (I've a bit of an apple obsession). Wondering if I can convince you to do a little swapsie in exchange for some like that?!!

Oh you did a marvelous job! I love the colors. Pastels are so tiresome. I made a blanket for my niece years ago and instead of the usual pastels, I used a midnight blue and a nice lime-ish peridot with some white mixed in. It was unusual for 1990 but my niece still has it and it's her favorite blanket.

I love the hoops! I might have to try my hand at that. Good inspiration.

The blanket turned out really pretty, lovely to see it finished and bright colours help stimulate babies vision - so I'm told LOL

Can you come to an extra SnB meeting at Silverlink on Thursday 5th 7pm? Would be lovely to see you again :)

Your baby blanket is gorgeous Locket! I love the colours you've used - what a lucky baby!!

What yummy finds at Matalano!! Why do I never see things like that when I go in there?

As for the new framed pictures - they look gorgeous but I think you may need to visit the £1 Shop to invest in a hammer!!

The baby blanket is just perfect - I don't understand why we always have pastel colours for babies. I also love the fabric framed - it's a great idea and so simple!

Hello Lucy! Thank you for stopping by and saying nice things again! I love your baby blanket. I love that it is bright and not pastel. I love that it doesn't have pacifier-motifs on it (like many of mine have). Oh you are so funny. Those embroidery hoops are on my to-try list too, because, you're right, they are such a pretty way to frame fabric. I daren't put them on my official to-do list until I actually have fabric that I want to frame, of course. Also love that scrolling list of tutorials you put in your sidebar - am glad you found the hobby horse one. Am going to make a unicorn soon for a school auction) so I will post pictures (unless I botch it up, in which case I might still post but rename it Ride a Rhino In the Safari"). Have a great day!
