Thursday (because I can't think of a good title)

I've spent the day at home today as Mr Locket had the car.

And I have actually managed to do a little bit of sewing!!!

This is the blanket order I have been working on (the monkey in the middle was inspired by Lesley's painted design) and I have sewn most of it together and will complete the top tomorrow after I have embroidered the baby's name and date of birth.

The bit I find hardest of all is getting the back panel on straight and flat - fleece is so "bendy" that it always seems to end up wonky!

I also managed to start sewing Kitty's prize-doll

but don't get too excited Kitty, it's still going to be a while before it is finished!!!

Then when I got too cold to keep on sewing I went into the kitchen to make this:

with
500g organic beef mince (because I watched Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall the other week)
2 onions
3 cloves of garlic
6 sticks of celery
1 large turnip
8 carrots
a handful of mushrooms
2 leeks
and two cartons of tomato passata
plus stock and seasoning etc

The mince only cost £2 and this quantity will feed the 5 of us for about 3 meals!

and the children LOVED it - despite it having gazillions of vegetables in (probably because I blitzed them in the blender before I cooked them so they ended up invisible!)

I thought I'd share this card a friend gave me today - brilliant isn't it?

And later on I am off for my Thursday night sewing session with my friends (although I might sneak some knitting in there too!)

Lucy x

P.S. The new challenge is set up over here.

Hello Lucy,

Very funny card, too!

PS. Re: yesterday's post - I'm very impressed with those bargains you found! I did something similar recently, but the garment I bought was still £4... seems Asda's the place to go for the real bargains :o)

How did I miss this? Probably because the kids were hogging the technology!!
Great post Mrs L and I love your blanket! It looks like an awful lot of work to me - hope you are charging a small fortune for it!

Great dinner and an ingenious way of fooling them into eating healthy stuff :)

Great card Mrs - that friend must know you very well :)

Hope you have a lovely evening with your sewing buddies.

Lovely baby blanket (and I know just what you mean by bendy fleece!)

I am jealous of a Thursday evening sewing group - sounds just the job. x

Lovely blanket, Lucy - even if the back does go wonky I am sure it'd be really well loved (and wonky is rather nice sometimes, isn't it?)
What a yum recipe....but where are you buying organic beef mince for £2?????? Share your secret supplier, please, because the organic mince beef I buy is double that and then a little bit more!

Well you must have photographed that blanket very well, because it doesn't look wonky at all!

I watched Hugh the other day too and seriously considered turning veggie - until I realised how much I would miss bacon butties. I'll be ok as long as they don't do a programme on pigs.

Fab tip on the hidden vegetables, thanks for that .... if I ever start cooking I'll be sure to use it.

:)

Hope you had a good sewy session.

I've been boring people about organic food and animal treatment for ages now. Hugh and co go on telly and now people understand. I love Hugh!!

Cute blanket, and yummy looking mince. I try to do the invisible veggie thing but my older one managed to detect a single parsnip mashed into 500g of potatoes the other day. Heeeelp!

The blanket is gorgeous and looks so snuggly and thanks to you my tummy is rumbling now (must drag myself away from the computer and go and make some lunch!). Enjoy your evening (and definitely sneak your knitting in!)

Fab blanket - looks like the sort of thing someone will really appreciate!

And that 'hidden vegetable' thingy sounds strangely familiar .....

There's a lot to be said for blending vegetables and hiding them in something tasty - how devious we mums have to be :o))))

Nothing like being without a vehicle to increase your productivity at home. You certainly made good use of your time, and the soup looks delicious.

Does this yummy looking dinner have a name? And you must tell me, when you get together with your sewing friends, do you pull faces like the girls on the card? LOL!

Owing to pressure - felt the need to write a comment!

Like the blanket, like the card, like the idea of meeting my friends for a drink (sorry, sew) - is that a good enough comment? Can I have a G&T now?

Trouble is parrot tamers are one in a million! And I now have those dizzy heights!

Talk to you soon.

PS Like the idea of bunny challenge.
